In the 1950's interior black and white photos were not taken. This composition comes from the artist's memories as a child of what the kitchen was like, mother making bread, father rolling his smoke, having coffee and reading the local paper. The scene holds as many authentic symbols of the era as possible including the mother with pincurls in her hair.
